Help keep us United in Song!

Dear Friends,

As winter deepens to its darkest days and many of us feel great concern about the political climate of our country, music reveals its essential role in our lives. Through music, we affirm our most cherished values: a community that is not divided by age, ability, race, gender, culture or economic status. In these trying times, the simple joy of making music together holds the power to heal our souls individually and to unite us in song.

East Bay Community Music Project builds community through fun and engaging music-making experiences for all people. From our Sunday Gatherings, Seasonal Festivals, and Ensemble Connection events to Morning Sing in Berkeley elementary schools, we serve our local community through music. In addition, we are honored to facilitate parent-child engagement through music at Prescott-Joseph Pre-Preschool in West Oakland.

The small and dedicated Music Project team works hard—primarily on a volunteer basis—and we make all our programs accessible and free-of-charge. But space, insurance, instruments and more all cost money and generous supporters such as you are what allow the Project to thrive.

We need your help to keep us United in Song! Would you consider a tax-deductible gift today? Click here to visit the donation page on our website.

Whatever you are able to contribute will have a real and immediate impact on the lives of Music Project participants, be they children, seniors, teens, or parents.  You can donate by check to the mailing address below or on our website through paypal.  Your support of East Bay Community Music Project gives the gift of music to all at a time when our world needs it most.

Sincerely,

Ryk Groetchen, Director

Winter Fundraiser! Matching Grants! Please Help!

Hello friends and fellow music-makers,

I’m writing on behalf of East Bay Community Music Project, an important non-profit arts organization dedicated to helping people connect, express and grow through community music making. This past year has seen many milestones. Here are just a few:

  • Continuation of twice-monthly gatherings and quarterly festivals.
  • Expansion of a unique repertoire with the inclusion of customized music making activities designed to acknowledge and celebrate significant life events of community members.
  • Establishment of a school sing-along program being piloted with scheduled events at two Berkeley Unified School District elementary schools.

Additionally, this past year EBCMP obtained designation as an official 501c3 organization. By formalizing our enterprise in this way we are poised to expand programing by forging partnerships with other arts organizations and civic entities, pursuing fundraising through foundation grants and accepting tax deductible donations from individuals like you…. which brings me to the reason for this letter.

I hope you will consider making a donation to East Bay Community Music Project as you consider your end of year giving. Your gift will help us to expand our instrument library, develop new programing, including an artist-in-residence initiative, as well as support the ongoing expenses associated with core programing.

The goal for this, our first fundraising campaign, is $5000. I am thrilled to announce that an anonymous donor has agreed to match gifts that are made prior to December 31st up to $1500; further our board has agreed to match up to an additional $1000, which means we need to raise $2500 from our community. Please help us take advantage of these matching opportunities. If just 50 of us dedicate $50 we will achieve our goal! All donations are tax-deductible.

We will gratefully accept your donations through PayPal (click Donate below):

You can also send a check or money order to:
